01. Family Reunification in Portugal:

Family reunion visas are essential for those who want to join their loved ones in Portugal. The requirements for these visas can vary based on your current location and your family member’s nationality in Portugal. If you’re seeking expert guidance on obtaining these visas for investors and their families, Belion Partners is here to help.

To start the process of family reunification or a family reunion visa, the applicant needs to apply in person from their current country of residence. Successful applicants are granted family reunification visas valid for two years. Often, during this period, individuals may become eligible for other residency or citizenship options in Portugal.

For children holding family reunion visas, the road to permanent residency is typically open. This means they gain access to the same benefits as Portuguese citizens, including employment, education, healthcare, and welfare services.

02. Who qualify for Family visa:

Who qualifies for the Family Reunion Visa in Portugal?
Once a Portugal residence permit has been granted to the main applicant, they can request residence permits for various family members. This is in line with Portuguese law and the specific requirements and regulations for family reunion visas in Portugal. These family members include:

A spouse or partner.
Children under 18.
Dependents over 18, as long as they are unmarried and full-time students in Portugal (or any other country in the case of the Golden Visa).
Dependent parents of either spouse or partner.
Under-18-year-old siblings of either spouse or partner, if legally under their care.
To meet the criteria for partner reunification in Portugal, certain conditions and documentation must be met to prove the stability and quality of the relationship. If these requirements aren’t met, family reunion visas will not be granted for partners or their dependents.

For the reunification of an underage or dependent child, it’s essential to have the consent of the other parent or the official body that has awarded custody to the applying parent.

Please note that those who received a residence permit for study, internships, or voluntary work can only apply for family reunion visas in Portugal for their spouse, partner, and underaged or other dependent children.
